Isuzu NLR
The Isuzu NLR is the most light-duty of the list, designed for urban/last-mile delivery and smaller commercial tasks. In Kenya a variant, the NLR77E, is rated GVW ~4,100 kg and uses a 2,999 cc engine with ~106 kW (≈ 142 hp) output.
Use-cases: intracity distribution, bakery/retail delivery, chilled-logistics in narrow streets, business fleets that move lighter boxes, high frequency runs. The compact size enables better manoeuvrability, likely lower fuel cost and lower entry cost compared to heavier trucks.
From a buying perspective: the NLR makes sense if your loads are relatively small, your routes involve many stop-starts or city work, and you prioritise agility and cost-minimization. If your loads or distances increase, the NLR may become limiting. Ensure your body builder can configure the truck appropriately (and stay within legal GVW/payload).
In short: the NLR is the go-to light-truck for urban tasks when you don’t need heavy payloads, but want the robustness of the Isuzu brand.
